It has come to our attention that grain-free diets may be linked to a serious heart condition called dilated cardiomyopathy.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is currently investigating the issue but, until then, CVCA Cardiac Care for Pets recommends feeding your dog a standard diet containing grain, rice, corn, and/or wheat unless (s)he has a specific medical reason requiring a grain-free diet.

Homemade diets and raw diets are not recommended either as they can increase the risk of other nutritional deficiencies.
